Commenting on an article by Don Franco TortiApril 16, 2020RIVARONE - Doors closed but windows open on Easter Monday (dell'Angelo) in Rivarone, where an extraordinary blessing was givento protect the population from the epidemic. The function took place in front of the little church of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio whichis located in the center of the town, with a loudspeaker to bring prayers to the homes of the Rivaronese.This church was built in 1630 by the will of the people, precisely during the plague epidemic and for this reason it was also dedicatedto S. Rocco and S. Sebastiano, saints invoked against the plagues. Legend has it that the inhabitants themselves built it, passing the bricksfrom the ruined church of S. Giorgio from hand to hand. Thus we wanted to renew the same vow made in the 17th century.The celebration was recorded and is now online on the Youtube site like all masses celebrated behind closed doors during he quarantine.The celebrations are officiated by the ninety-year-old Don Franco Torti, parish priest of Rivarone for fifty years.
